SEASONS CHANGE AND SO DOES YOUR SKIN. SO, IT’S TIME FOR AN AUTUMN REFRESH

Do you ever find your skin going through different cycles depending on what the weather is doing outside? Of course you do! It’s completely normal.

With summer comes plenty of sun cream, sweat, and oils, and all of this can cause our skin to become a little more clogged and greasy. With winter comes dryness, inflammation, and chapped skin, and often you’ll find that you’re fighting to maintain some moisture throughout the cold blasts. Winter might be full of lovely warming sentiments and beautiful traditions such as pumpkin spiced lattes and woolly jumpers, but it’s not always the best news for our skin.

So, with autumn upon us, and winter soon to be arriving, let’s take a look at how your skin has changed alongside the seasons and how you can use autumn as a time of refreshment and protection. You can use the in-between season to repair and rejuvenate your skin from any damage that summer has created and prepare for the change in complexion your skin will experience in winter. But, where exactly do you start? Let’s break it down.

Exfoliation

A lot of people believe that they should steer clear of exfoliation going into winter and avoid angering or inflaming their skin. However, it’s important to get rid of any dead skin cells and top-layer damage caused by exposure to the sun and the drying effects of summer. Think of it as the start of winter prep - allow your skin to be in its optimum state before going into the depths of coldness. Once exfoliated, your skin will be in the best state to absorb moisture from products.

Hydrate

Not only has summer caused a lot of dehydration in your skin cells, the cold weather and switching and swapping between cold climate and heated homes can play havoc with our hydration. It’s probably one of the most important times to make sure your skin is getting enough hydration, so look to products that boost this as opposed to strip it. According to many dermatologists, the best thing you can do in autumn is hydrate and coat your skin in moisture, oils, serums and creams.

Don’t know where to start? Try our Everyday Cream for Thirsty Skin, a gentle and moisturising face cream infused with sweet almond oil and pomegranate oil, perfect for nourishing the skin every single day.

Moisturise

Make sure you have your moisturising regime knuckled down, and ensure that you are being as gentle and loving towards your skin as possible. Introducing an oil into your skincare routine will help your face and body to retain moisture, setting it up in good stead for the snowy months. Hate to see dry and flaky skin? Oils will help to combat this as it increases elasticity of the skin through the use of collagen supporting amino acids and proteins.

Don’t know where to start? Try our Pure Avocado Oil. Rich in vitamins A, B1, B2 & D, essential fatty acids, and minerals, Avocado’s ability to penetrate and absorb into the skin is like no other. Focus

The change in seasons can really attack certain body parts, so pay attention to those that may need a little bit more of a helping hand. Found yourself with chronically chapped lips? Don’t worry, you’re not alone. It’s one of the most common complaints in the transition from summer through autumn and into winter, so there are plenty of options for you to help your sore lips. Also find that your hands are crying out for moisture? It’s another common one, so focus on making sure they stay as moisturised and hydrated as possible. No one likes a cracked knuckle, do they?
